Myrtle Beach Golf Course Review
The TPS is the only course in Myrtle Beach to receive the 5 star rating by Golf Digest Places to Play in 2007! The Tournament Players Club gives all of its golfers an opportunity to feel what it is like to play on a tournament caliber course. Designed by Tom Fazio and previous host to the Senior Tour Championship, this layout features meticulously manicured fairways and true rolling greens that play amongst the towering pines and expansive wetlands.
Five sets of tees afford players of all skill levels with an opportunity to enjoy a fair yet challenging round, though with 66 sand bunkers and with water in play in some shape or form on 13 holes, golfers are advised to bring their "A" games. The tips measure 6950 yards with a 146 slope rating, while alternate sets play to distances and slopes measuring 6700 yards/140 slope, 6393 yards/132 slope, 6183 yards/129 slope and 5118 yards with a slope of 125 from the forward tees.
On course sprinkler heads are measured to the front, middle and center of the large green complexes, and 150 yard stakes are also posted on all par fours and fives, The Kirby marking system is present on the cart paths with yardages posted every 25 yards from 200 to 75, and color coded flags incdicate the day's front, middle or back hole locations.
Besides the sand and water hazards, golfers will be confronted with undulating green complexes - some multi tiered. The fairways are tree lined but often provide ample landing zones off the tee along a mildly rolling terrain. The scorecards present a course diagram and also have info on the widths and depths of the putting surfaces. Since opening in 1999, this course has been heralded as one of South Carolina's classics! Golfers can enjoy the fully stocked pro shop, restaurant/lounge featuring an outdoor patio with great views (breakfast and lunch is offered daily). There also is a men's locker room with separate lounge. An extensive practice facility includes a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus large putting green.
The TPC Myrtle Beach is run by Century golf Arnold Palmer management. For more information on the TPC, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
