POSSUM TROT Golf Club - CLOSED
Myrtle Beach Golf Course Review
Possum Trot Golf Course is a time honored design where old English traditional elements blend with the new to create one of the more enjoyable golf experiences in the Myrtle Beach area. Spacious fairways, awesome par fives and consistent conditioning from tee to green have helped the property to be considered as one of the "friendliest courses on the Grand Strand".
The course was designed to fit the skill levels of all golfers, with 4 sets of tees playing to distances and slopes measuring 6966 yards/127 slope, 6343 yards/118 slope, 5505 yards/108 slope and 5153 yards with a slope of 111 for women hitting from the forward tees. Color coded flags indicate the days pin locations, and 100, 250 and 200 yard markers as well as sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green on all par. fours and fives.
There are 53 soft sand bunkers located near the landing zones off the tee or situated greenside, and water hazards come into play in some shape or form on 13 of the holes. as with many Myrtle Beach courses, yellow/black flags are posted near the hazards, especially near those that are somewhat hidden. The doglegs on this layout favor the golfer that bends his shot from left to right - with successful shots shortening the yardages significantly on some holes.
The clubhouse features a pro shop with snack area, plus changing room with showers. Practice facilities consist of a grass range, short game area with sand bunker, and putting green. The Simply Great Golf Academy is also on property, providing professional instruction of all types.
Golfers will enjoy the friendly environment, as well as ample fairways and mild green complexes, with special features that include some wood retaining walls that frame several green complexes, and the palm tree studded sand bunker that is situated greenside on number 16. Nice value and easily accessed on Hwy 17 - we recommend it. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
