Myrtle Beach golf course review

Witch Golf Club | Myrtle Beach golf course

The Witch in East Conway is a Dan Maples championship design that was built along 500 rolling acres that is home to plentiful native wildlife including deer, black bear, alligators and herons. This 18-hole course provides a combination of beauty and challenge that will make golfers want to re-visit.

The clubhouse here features a restaurant and bar ( serving beer but not liquor) plus pro shop - and views of the 18th green. Practice facilities include a grass range, short game area plus putting green. The property is part of the Mystical Golf Group which also includes the Man O War (only minutes away with a separate clubhouse) and the nearby Wizard Golf Clubs. Stay and play packages are available through the courses website (link at top of this page)

There are 4 sets of tees designed to provide opportunities for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy a round here. The tips measure 6796 yards and play to a slope of 133. Alternate sets measure 6259 yards/121 slope, 5533 yards with a 115 slope and 4812 yards with a slope of from the forward tees. As the distances and slopes indicate - this can be a challenging experience from the tips but is a very playable layout form the alternate sets.

There are 47 intricately shaped sand bunkers situated along the landing zones on the rolling fairways or greenside, and water comes into play in some shape or form on 7 holes. The course design is varied with a mix of tightly tree lined and roomy fairways, and golfers will encounter numerous elevated fairways and raised green complexes.

The bermuda greens were in great shape during our late summer visit, and are mildly sloping. Land in regulation and good scores can be had. There are several doglegs that demand accurate distance and placement off the tee. The color coded flags are helpful in denoting front, middle and back pin placements, and golfers will find 200, 150 and 100 yard markers on the fairways of all par fours and fives.

With the 4 tee areas, this is a course that can be fun for all levels of golfers. The beauty and variety in the design with playability and challenge built in along with competitive rate structure, make this a good value for the area and highly recommended by this website!
